Special Witness: Elder Holland

Elder Holland bears his testimony of Jesus Christ and his Atonement.

Does the Atonement apply to me? Can the Savior really understand what I’m experiencing? Is it possible for one person to have paid the price for all sins? From the Garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland answers those questions.

Special Witness: Elder Cook

Elder Cook shares the history of missionary work and bears his apostolic testimony of the work.

How did the Savior prepare the way for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be spread throughout the world? From Preston, England, and the banks of the River Ribble, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles testifies that missionary work is inspired and guided by the Lord. He traces the history of revelations from the Savior that prepared the way for missionary work that started with the Restoration and is now spreading to every nation. “We are all spirit children of a loving Father in Heaven,” Elder Cook bears witness. “He has provided a way through His Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, for us to return to Him.”

Special Witness - Elder Scott

Why is baptism necessary for us to receive eternal life? How does understanding the Savior’s life increase our appreciation for the covenants of baptism? Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles testifies that the Savior’s Atonement makes possible the cleansing of our sins through baptism. “That is an absolute requirement for every soul that would receive a fulness of the blessings offered us,” he says. “The Master Himself was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He is our perfect example in all things.” Elder Scott bears witness of the Savior’s divinity, affirming that His sacrifice allows us to make redeeming covenants that enable us to return to our Heavenly Father.

Special Witness: Elder Hales

Elder Hales bears his testimony about the scriptures and the life of the Savior.
How did the Savior provide an example of obedience for us to follow? Will following His example help us in our daily lives? From Jerusalem, Elder Robert D. Hales of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles testifies of the Savior’s divine mission, saying that everything He did was done in obedience to His Father’s will: “What a perfect example of obedience!” Following this example “could transform human existence if we would let it.” Elder Hales bears testimony of the Savior and declares that “if we will have faith in our Savior, He will see us through our trials and tribulations.”

Special Witness: Elder Andersen

Elder Andersen bears his testimony of Christ from Nauvoo.
When early pioneers were driven from their homes, how did they endure without losing their faith? How can we develop similar faith and strength? From Nauvoo, Illinois, Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles describes the sacrifices made by the early Saints in order to follow the Savior. Citing the Savior’s command to “take up [your] cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24), he says that deep spiritual truths do not come to us without sacrifice. If we wish to know the Savior, we must be willing to give up the things of the world and offer the Lord a broken heart and a contrite spirit, with faith that He will strengthen us and that His work will ultimately triumph. Elder Andersen testifies “with absolute certainty that [Jesus Christ] lives today. He is resurrected. Because of Him, we too will live again.”
