Acting on Inspiration

As we act on inspiration from God, our hearts change, and we can help change the hearts of others.
Juan Mendoza of Mexico felt like something was missing in his life. Nothing seemed to fill the emptiness he felt inside—until he chose to begin following the spiritual promptings he felt to return to Church, read his scriptures, and pray.
Acting upon these feelings, he felt a sensation of comfort, relief, and forgiveness. “The Lord never forgets us,” he says. Having recognized the blessings that came from acting upon inspiration, he knew what to do when he began feeling the need to serve a mission.
“I cannot express … how much I desire to always serve the Lord,” he says.

Following Divine Guidance

One of the great lessons that each of us needs to learn is to ask. Why does the Lord want us to pray to Him and to ask? Because that is how revelation is received.
When I am faced with a very difficult matter, this is how I try to understand what to do. I fast. I pray to find and understand scriptures that will be helpful. That process is cyclical. I start reading a passage of scripture; I ponder what the verse means. I pray for inspiration. I then ponder and pray to know if I have captured all the Lord wants me to do. Often more impressions come with increased understanding of doctrine. I have found that pattern to be a good way to learn from the scriptures. . . .
The more closely you follow divine guidance, the greater will be your happiness here and for eternity—

Enemy Territory

“You young people are being raised in enemy territory, but I promise you will be protected and shielded from the attacks of the adversary if you will heed the promptings that come from the Holy Ghost,” says President Boyd K. Packer. He shares an experience in which he was protected during World War II by listening to a prompting from the Spirit.
Has there been a time in your life when listening to the promptings of the Spirit has protected you? Share you experience below.
