For Times of Trouble by Jeffrey R. Holland

Salvation comes with a price. We come to know the Savior when we've been on the boarderlands of Gethsemane.

Your Spiritual Sword

How do we know when the Holy Ghost is speaking to us? Learning the language of the spirit is like learning a language and it needs to be learned/practiced - give yourself enough opportunities to have the spirit with you to learn how to feel the spirit whether it be when you study the scriptures, pray, etc. Practice - are you getting repeated messages, 2 Tim 1:7 not a spirit of fear, vs. D&C 9 stupor of thought, involve the Lord in the process, he will not send doubt, fear, in the last minute. Trust your feelings along the way- I will move forward unless I get a no (don't stop moving). The Lord trusts us and loves us enough to let us make our own choices. One part of armor that is offensive, not defensive - keep the spirit with you always.

Strap On Your Helmet

Strap on your helmet of salvation - you have 7 holes in your head you have to filter what goes in them. Media needs to be filtered, the man of God will always look away. Suffer these things not to enter into my heart. Condition your heart to be offended, don't become desensitized. On the positive side 1 Sam 16:29. Pornography in images, books, etc. needs to be acknowledged, get help, you can feel when the spirit leaves. Satan works in the dark, Jesus works in the light. If you feel like you need to hide something....that is your big hint.

Sheilds Up!

Shield of Faith - the shield is above all. Put your faith in Jesus Christ, in God's will - don't put your faith in outcomes. Have faith not only knowing the things that God can do, but true faith is in knowing why He doesn't always do it. Faith is a principle of action, power, moving forward, engaging, putting your heart into it.

Put On Your Gospel Shoes

The Gospel can Direct, Protect, Project, the direction of your feet. Ponder the direction of your feet, The word is a lamp to thy feet, patriarchal blessings are a map for the road of life that your feet will travel, the gospel leads you to the fertile places of life. Gospel leads you to peace.

The Bullet-proof Breastplate

Scripture study - even from the living prophets, study for a time frame not number of chapters - ponder the words, study journal, read with a question, why was this put in the scriptures?, understand-identify a principle-how can I use this principle, look for:Sonday-Sunday; Missionary-Monday; Testimony-Tuesday; One-word Wednesday; Thorough-Thursday; 5 Word-Friday; Standard-Saturday, pray and ask the Lord how long you should pray,

A Mighty Band of Youth - Missionary Youth

A Mighty Band of Youth - part 1, part 2, and part 3 (A KSL Special Report)  (part 2 - Revelation 14:6)

SALT LAKE CITY — Like 10,000 legions marching, from the words of a Latter-day Saint hymn to the halls of the missionary training center, a new generation is rising to accept the call to serve a mission.
A prophet's voice brought the good news; Young men may begin serving missions at the age of 18, young women at age 19.
So many are prepared to serve it is time for a new MTC and new missions. They all usher in a new day for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are a mighty band of youth, and these are their stories.
